Dead Presidents

Having finished the pope’s The Name of God is Mercy, we are currently making our way through the surprisingly fascinating Dead Presidents: An American Adventure into the Strange Deaths and Surprising Afterlives of Our Nation’s Leaders by Brady Carlson.  While some of the chapters deal with well-known deaths, such as the double deaths of Jefferson and Adams on the same day, the fiftieth anniversary of the Fourth of July, I find the sections on the more obscure presidents (Tyler, Buchanan, Pierce, etc.) especially compelling.
