Abbot Matthew announces retirement

Earlier today our Abbot Matthew announced that he would step down as abbot on the morning of June 5 of this year.  Abbot Hugh Anderson, O.S.B., the Abbot President of our congregation, the American-Cassinese Congregation of Benedictine Monasteries, has announced that the election for Abbot Matthew’s successor will take place on June 4 and5.

By that date Abbot Matthew will have completed 26 years of service as abbot, one of the longest terms of service in the Benedictine world today.
