A Country of Vast Designs

This evening at dinner we finished N.T. Wright’s Simply Christian. Appropriately enough, on this day of the New Hampshire Presidential Primary, we began one of our favorite genres of table reading book, the presidential biography: Robert W. Merry’s A Country of Vast Designs: James K. Polk, the Mexican War and the Conquest of the American Continent.
