All the 2007 Table Reading

Unlike my custom for previous postings, I will not rate each book for 2007. On looking over the Table Reading for that year, there were several well-received books.  I would signal the following from the list as highly recommended:  Troublesome Young Men, Ike:  An American Hero, and My Life with the Saints.  Here is the complete list in the order in which we read them:

Edwin Mullins, Cluny:  In Search of God’s Lost Empire.

Nathaniel Philbrick, Mayflower:  A Story of Courage, Community, and War.

James Martin, My Life with the Saints.

“Circular Letter of the Abbot Primate:  2007”

Steven Prothero, Religious Literacy:  What Every American Needs to Know – And Doesn’t.

Lynn Olson, Troublesome Young Men:  The Rebels who Brought Churchill to Power and Helped Save England.

Lawrence Wright, The Looming Tower:  Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.

Steven Turner, Amazing Grace:  The Story of America’s Most Beloved Song.

Michael Korda, Ike:  An American Hero.
